Passing clouds on a beautiful horizon, beautiful and fleeting at the same time, and an idea that is grander than the bounds of a picture. The beauty of life is instilled in every day, every interaction, and abundant among the company of great people; there is grace to ever-flowing life that escapes simplification. It is the courage to bring tangibility to the indescribable and the act of creation that attempts to bridge this gap between the mind's eye and reality. It is the dance between the sun and a flower that makes you wonder how a message could ever transverse such a distance, and it is a dance of solitude. From the desire to describe things that couldn't be, the world has been blessed with the birth of some of the greatest artists. The term "artist" is widely applicable, and the act of creation is present at many crossroads; it was there when Leonardo da Vinci made the Mona Lisa, it was there when The Beatles recorded Let it Be, and it will be there with you when the urge to find the pot at the end of a rainbow arises.
The act of creation is a magnificent thing. Just as it is satisfying for an artist to look at their work of art, it is amusing for others to experience it and question how someone ever could come up with something so ethereal. For instance, I was recently surprised when my local coffee shop--I go there often to get work done-- hosted some local musicians from the college. I had gone there to get ahead on some schoolwork, but it didn't take long before my laptop was closed, and my eyes were glued to the makeshift stage that had been set. There was a cellist who played an extremely captivating song, and his tune reverberated through the small coffee shop making it seem large. The performance was an ailment to my inner monologue as I was transported to a world beyond myself. It was inspiring to see someone so talented, and I couldn't help but try to imagine what he was seeing through his eyes. I had the feeling that he was not a cellist playing in a small shop, but a lone cellist traversing a plane of chords and scales. It was a pleasant surprise, and I left that shop with a pep in my step.
Art can bring happiness, melancholy, and sadness, occupying a continuum as wide as the light spectrum. I am writing this to express the joy I have found in many different art forms recently. I have been listening to lots of music. I have been reading more. I have been looking up more cooking recipes, and I hope to get even more diverse. I am listening to some Frank Sinatra while writing this, and I can't help but think that everybody needs a little art in their life. Art provides a splash to life and reminds us to stop and take in the view. In my exploration, I have found contentment and the desire to return to creation myself. It has been a while since I have written, but I hope to get back to a more consistent schedule. This is the start of my return to blogging and writing. If you got this far, thanks for reading, and I promise I will release blogs as often as possible.
